Rita started teaching last week.  This is a part time position (15 hours a week) at the College of New Jersey's Adult Learning Center. She really enjoys her job, and as I understand her students enjoy the classes, as well.

My boss (Leslyn Rose), who's a great person to work for (with), left the bank for another position at another bank. It's a big loss for both the bank and for me personally. Our Japanese senior manager is interviewing people for the job, but it will take a while. In the meantime, it's a little hectic in the office. We took some pictures when Leslyn left. I posted one of them in the Picture Gallery. Enjoy.

We're going to have a baby!!! My wife gave me the "OK", so I can tell every one that in May we will be parents. Rita is 3 months pregnant. She's well, and we're both very excited. The due date is May 4th.

Today we got an early Christmas present. We had the first (and if everything goes well, the only) sonogram (ultrasound).  The pictures were amazing. We saw all the bones and internal organs. After much debate we decided to learn the sex of our unborn child. (Rita wanted to know, and I didn't.) It looks like we're going to have a girl. The baby is beautiful and absolutely healthy.

A little more than 3 months to go. Rita is getting bigger and bigger. She's a very good looking pregnant woman. We picked the name. Our daughter will be named Blanka Halacsy. (We know there's a chance the baby will be a boy, so we also picked a boy's name, "Soma".) Please call for correct pronunciation. 

There were some major changes in the office recently. Pete, my good buddy has left the bank. Two new people were hired and a new manager came from Tokyo. But the most important change: I was promoted to Officer as of January 3, 2000. I got a very nice raise and an extra week of vacation. Now we can buy things for the baby.

Blanka Julia Halacsy was born at 9:43 pm. The baby is 7 pounds and 8 ounces (3.40kg) and 21 inches (54cm) tall. She's absolutely beautiful.

It's my birthday today. Blanka is over 5 months old now. She's not only beautiful, but also very smart. We have a very good baby. She smiles all the time during the day, and sleeps through the night. Rita went back to work (3 hours a day) in the middle of September. Rita's parents are staying with us to take care of the baby. 

I got a new job. I'm going from the Japanese to the German. I accepted a position at Westdeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale (West LB). I'll start on November 6. I got a great job, a nice salary increase and yet another week of vacation. I'm looking forward to the change.  

It's been a while. We've been busy the last couple months. Raising a baby apparently takes a lot of time. Blanka turned 1 almost two months ago. Rita and her spent 6 weeks in Hungary. I joined them for 2 weeks in the middle. We had a great time. Blanka has been walking since April. She's getting cuter every day.

Rita's job ended in May. The school she worked at closed. It's too bad. She really enjoyed working there, and her students loved her. She is looking for a new job now.  

Leaving Asahi turned out to be a great move. The bank announced that it would close the New York office. I wish every one good luck finding a new job. 

Balint Halacsy was born this morning at 8:08. He's a big boy weighing 8 pounds 13 ounces (4kg). He's 21 1/2 (55cm) inches tall. We are all very excited. Blanka is a big sister now. I posted pictures in the Picture Gallery.
